If Jefferson were alive today, he'd likely be a Democrat. His philosophy almost to the letter matches the modern-day Democratic platform, with the exception of his take on slavery. Remember that this is a man who helped form the United States from colonies that were governed by a man with absolute power.

He truly believed that the people should have controlling power over the government and rightly so which is why he so eloquently wrote the Declaration of Independence. Unfortunately, the true meaning of the Declaration of Independence has changed dramatically throughout the years to seem to be more closely to choice A or B and even D......

C is correct . Jefferson truly believed in this principle that the people should have controlling power over the government.Jefferson definitely believed this principle over the centralized federal government of the opposing Federalist party.

Thomas Jefferson was a founder of the Democratic Republican Party. It eventually became the Democratic Party. Jefferson was a Democrat. The Republican Party was founded in 1854.
