I've heard a lot about how a lot of people think he faked his death.

Could someone please explain this to me?

Maybe give me the facts, or something about why some people think he faked it?

Will I understand better if I read facts about his death?

Do you think he faked it? Why?

Thanks in advanced.

Because they don't want to believe that he died -- especially that the king died on the "throne".

Let me tell u what I think! I'm one of the people who think Elvis is not dead! I'm not being funny or anything which u probably think I am, but the reason why I think he's alive is because 1. On two Priscilla intereviews, which is his wife says "Elvis was poor, oh that's it exactly what he said the other day" and then she goes oops right, plus she said in another video, that he loves football! She should have said he lovED football 2. In the casket, that wasn't Elvis because the body didn't sweat, it was totally a wax dumbie, plus he looked like the young Elvis in the casket. Elvis was chunky when he died. 3. He wanted to escape fame and people were after him and he wanted a normal life! 4. He was in one video, u couldn't see his face but u can hear his voice he was singing and this was new stuff because when he was singing, there was no music to it and THE MAN SOUND JUST LIKE ELVIS!!

Born in Memphis here,
People don't want to accept the fact that Elvis is gone. Alot of people are the same way, this for some reason gives them a glimmer of hope.
ELVIS IS DEAD!
Elvis turned into a junkie; toward the end of his life Elvis would be awaken in the morning with Breakfast and an Injection. At lunch time they would wake Elvis up with (2)cheeseburgers/along with (2)Injections.
Elvis saved up a couple of days worth of injections, and gave them to his self oneday while he was on the toilet. Therefore Elvis died from an overdose. I call it suicide!!

i think that one of the many reasons why a great number of persons have a differculty accepting the death is that they believe that icons are to live for ever , and that elvis had such a profound impact on there lives because of the songs he sang ,the great performances that he did ,also persons would have grown up right along with Elvis. more importantly since alot of Elvis songs spoke of breaking the rules and deifiance ,the figured that he could defiey all the laws. finally the bible reminds us and i quote nevertheless, man being in honour abideth not; he is like the beast that perish.

Elvis was really the first American superstar and had lived his life in the spotlight. People used to think it was terrible how the media invaded his life...it wasn't as bad as it is now, but he was one of the first it happened to. So, people figured he had enough, faked his death, and moved to some place quiet. I don't think he did that, but a lot of people did, and understood why he would have. But, that was mostly women who were now middle aged, and who didn't want to believe he died--his death was the end of their youth.

"Because they'd rather believe that than the sad truth" would be my immediate response. But it's deeper than that. I suggest this book to everyone -- seriously, read it -- "Why People Believe Weird Things" by Michael Shermer. One of my favorites. It not only reviews some weird beliefs, but it also goes into the psychology of belief (and has a chapter on why smart people can sometimes believe the strangest things!).

As to Elvis in particular, I'm afraid I don't know all that much about it. Here's some info on his autopsy:

If they had his body, then that would seem to suggest that he really is dead and gone....

Opinion:

Elvis was so important in the lives of people who had nothing more important to do than idolize a celebrity. He was the biggest star of early rock and roll. His image was enhanced by excessive media attention including the coverage of every detail of his military service (once he was a star).

Many people who adored Elvis were left with a major hole in their lives. Some of them, desperate to resolve Elvis' apparent inner strength with his death by a drug overdose, latched on to any thread of hope that he was still alive. This was fed by frequent sightings of Elvis all over the country.

Ever since I saw the movie "Bubba Ho-tep" I believe that Elvis is alive and is in fact in a nursing home in east Texas. Actually, he's best friends with JFK (who faked his death too!) there, if you didn't know. Apparently, JFK's black now (to deter people from catching on to him).

Last I heard they were saving their fellow geriactrics from certain death by Egyptain Mummy.

And you say Elvis isn't a badass.

Every famous happening has a conspiracy theory.

Elvis faked his death (name misspelled on his grave, the sudden way he died, etc)
Kennedy assassination (the Cubans did it, the Russians did it, the mob did it, etc)
9/11 (the government did it)

Just about every major historical event, or those involving very famous individuals has some sort of conspiracy theory around it. I think it is those that cling to something other than the truth. But who knows. . .

Well as the Physician who did the autoposy said, if Elvis faked his death then he is walking around while his brain is in a jar in my office.

They think this because they do not want to face reality. People begin to treat celebrities like they are not just human like the rest of us. The man was sick. He was overweight and taking many prescriptions which helped lead his health to decline for a long time. It was sad but it just happened.
