You have to connect the XBOX 360 to the internet thru the Ethernet connection or a wireless connection with an adapter sold separately. Once you insert the XBOX CD it will prompt for downloading a patch to play the game. You download and install the patch.
My kids used to play Halo and Spiderman 1 & 2, they both work on XBOX 360.
I have the bundle XBOX 360 ($399) it comes with a Hard Drive Disk.

the two HAVE THEIR PLUSES THE 360 HAS staggering photos however the video games ARE VERY high priced 40 5 POUND approximately.tHERE ARE LAODS OF video games FOR the traditional XBOX and that they are greater value-effective.in case you PLAY HALO2 there are particular issues you CANT DO on the 360 ok LIKE BEAT DOWNS AND XBR which you're able to do ok on the traditional XBOX.relies upon WHAT you like IT FOR i think AND on the 360 YOU acquire DEMOS of recent RELEASES.

Unfortunately not all games work. I found this out the hard way. Microsoft claim to be working on the original xbox compatible games all the time. This is a little inaccurate. Anyway, most of the 'popular' titles work.

well, some games are supported and some games arent... the unpopular games are probably not supported while the well known games are supported.
