Landscapers started putting our lawn in today. It had lots of and very long weeds, wild grasses and wildflowers growing. They spread out black dirt over the entire lawn without doing anything to the weeds, just left them there as is. They are then going to sod over the black dirt. Is this a dissaster waiting to happen? Thanks in advance:)

I'm not that certain, but maybe the dirt and sod will kill out the weed. If it can't get light then it is likely to die. However, it does sound like the lazy way to sod. Most often sod is layed on clean and freshly tilled soil.
You are paying the landscapers so talk to them about it and make sure they are doing it right and not cutting corners.

I really don't know the proper procedure but the same thing happened to my daughter and son-in-law, the sod layers just left the grass and weeds under the new sod, no black soil, and they had to get a lawn service to try to deal with the weeds that emerged. To me it is common sense that if the weeds are left they will just grow through the new sod. Good luck.

This is a disaster waiting to happen! It should have been sprayed with round up first to kill all the weeds, the weeds will just come up through the grass and you will have a patch of weeds instead of grass.

Then you will either have to pick the weeds out manually or pay to have people fertilizer put down.

I think it will be ok the sod may suffocate the weeds . Sod is very healthy condensed blades not much gets past it.

i would think so because landscapers are cheap theses days and do things the easy way bu they probably should have sprayed then tilled up the land then layed dirt then should then sod it.
