I would suggest you use smaller fish that can live through the cold weather (assuming it gets below 70 where you are) Goldfish or Koi are impractical for a pond of that size. White cloud Mountain minnows are the easiest to handle for a situation like you describe. Of course, you can also turn to fish native to your area including various minnows, darters or dace.

Go and get yourself a large rubbermade container from Walmart (about 10 bucks). It will hold about 50 gallons or so Even a 55 gallon drum (food quality) would work. They run about $5 each. Really you should not put your koi all back in the newly filled pond right away. You can use your pond's fountain pump to run in the rubbermade container. If not you can pick up a simple fountain pump ($15) even a mini (about $7) at walmart or pet smart. Use the water from your existing pond for this. Simply set up a simple fountain for oxygen. An air stone is not going to do anything for your fish. I don't know how many gallons your pond is. Once you have the pond complete and filled, you will need more than likely an entire bottle of cycle. I usually tell people not to use this stuff. Add one or two of your koi to the pond only. The others will be fine with the fountain on. Remember it is just a fountain pump not a filter. Ponds really don't need a filter in the first place. test your water in the pond and in the container. After about 4 days you can add another koi to the pond. Keep testing. You will see it will cycle very quickly. 4 days you can add another koi and so on. Your fish should do fine.

umm is the pond 50 gallons? if so you cant really introduce any pond fish but maby a goldfish.

I might have misunderstood im guessing you meant the fountain was 50 gallon, so anyways you can put koi and goldfish

The one inch per gallon rule does NOT apply to koi and goldfish since they almost never stop growing.
