ATM card will work but you'll be paying service fees.

You could, as an alternative, take traveler's checks or do it the old fashioned way, take cash.

If you get money from a bank using your ATM card, you won't pay any fees but what your own bank charges. Usually that is only a dollar or two, in other words not that much. Actually using your ATM card is the best way to get cash as it has the smallest fees and will give you the correct exchange rate.

Travelers checks have to be converted to local money, in doing so you get robbed on the exchange rate by the tune of about 10%. Not a smart deal if you ask me.

You cannot use a standart bank card ( foreign one ) here in
Malaysia.I suggest you changed some ringgit at the airport
upon your arrival. Once in the city, go to a licensed money changer, they give better rates with no commission charges.
You can get them at most shopping complexes. Enjoy your
stay in Malaysia
