Get started now. Do every school and local play that you can, take classes and workshops, and always remember that school comes first. Your education will be the foundation for the rest of your life. When you're an actor, you're basically the president of your own company, selling 'you' as the product. Stay active in all things performance related, but school should remain prevelant in your life at least until you graduate college. Everyone will take you more seriously if you present yourself with intelligence, proper grammar, good diction, etc. In school you'll also learn a lot about literature which is of course very important to actors... :-) When the time is right, you will seek out an agent and move forward into another part of your life and career.

Good luck!

Don't overact. look at disney. those kids are super popular now, but in a couple years, their hilarity will wear off, and they'll be another previous child actor on a reality show (looking pitiful) and trying to get back to the top. Ex., Miley Cyrus and Dakota Fanning. Miley might seem super cool now, but Dakota could do a VERY wide amout of roles. Miley will forever be the bubbly, loud, obnoxious charecter she is right now. and people will grow tired of that.

So my advice to you, is be a Dakota, not a Miley. Be as versitile as possible, going from comedy, to drama, and anything else. You will end up with so much more fame.

well i too love the theater and i want to become an actress when i grow up.
from the day i performed in the school play i saw that i loved this art and it was everything for me, i expressed myself and had fun. i acted is if i were in real life and you know what after the show they were telling me how good i was. now you might say that they didnt want to hurt my feelings or sth. but people i had never seen in my life or i slightly knew started to tell me about how they liked my existence in the play.
trust me if you love sth from heart then you can do anything.
now i am going to play in a theater for kids. i am going to start from there and i hope this will lead somewhere.
you just follow your heart. if you love this art then you are born for it.
so go for it and fulfill your dreams and goals.dont let anyone stand as an obstacle in your road.
good luck

you use the correct use of the word "your". your good actress what?

and when you lie, if people believe you, then you're getting better. not that you should go around lying or anything.

ps i believe you meant "you're".
