Rednecks (white males from the southern states, low and middle class blue collar workers) like swords, they loves swords, nothing to do with warefare, It is just they have a strange attraction to shiney things, loke beer cans, chrome bumbers and UFO's (hey ester Jean come take a gander at that shiney thing up thare in dah sky, sure is shiney!). otherwise, Yeah we are not into them, they have little historic influence on us as a Nation, used in the Military for years more for a show of rank or used as a pointer, some action with clavary troops, but even that very minimal compared to Europes hacking at one another for centuries.

I like swords for their historical worth but they really haven't been used much at all since the early 20th century. I also like guns for the same historical reason. I definitely have more guns that swords but guns are mostly for hunting.

Swords don't make enough noise and you have to get too close; also, one supposes there is some skill involved. Whoever heard of a drive by swording?

(I can't believe that spell check didn't question "swording"; I don't think there is such a word.)
