I'd recommend taking the free shuttle located at Harrah's. You do not have to be staying at either hotel to take the shuttle.

Shuttle:
Picks up at Harrah's. No scheduled pick-up times (average wait about 30 minutes).
Departs the Rio. No scheduled departure times.

Hours 10 a.m. to midnight Sun.-Thurs.; 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

If you want to get over to the off-Strip Rio, they have a free shuttle bus that stops in the back of Harrah's. Go to the back of the casino and exit near the hotel's registration desk and look for the "Bus Departures" area off to your left. Hours of operation are 10 am to 1 am with a frequency of every 20 to 30 minutes (depending on traffic). Note that when you are ready to leave the Rio to head back to the Strip, you will often have to wait for the second or third bus to come along as they can only fit about 20 people on a bus and they don't allow standing. As an alternative, walking to the Strip is a bit of a hike taking about 20 to 30 minutes.

If you mean can you walk to the Rio from the strip the answer is yes. It is wonderful exercise and the walk is easy and does not take long at all. There is a sidewalk that goes over the highway with a "gate guard".. so you cross over the highway. Take the shuttle if you like one way - either from the Rio to Harrahs or vice versa. Have fun!

Rio is a property of Harrah's - if you are staying at any of the other Harrah's properties (Harrah's, Flamingo, Caesars, Paris, Bally's) you might check with them to see if there is a shuttle. Even if you are not staying at one of those places, you may be able to hop a shuttle.

If this is a question that is immedate, you may be in luck. Since the WSOP is happening at the Rio through mid-July, they are using all of the Harrah's properties for discounted rooms for poker players - meaning that the liklihood that there is a shuttle to the Rio is higher than it might be at other times.

There are free shuttles to the RIO from the other Harrahs properties (we took it from Ballys to the Rio to see Penn & Teller and it was a breeze). Otherwise it would be a very long, hot walk.

You can walk it from the strip, but I wouldn't recommend it. You go over highway overpasses and there's no sidewalk there....

Place one foot in front of the other. Heel toe heel toe. Leave a trail of scattered skittles so you can find your way back.
