No the original creditor had nothing to sell. This is really illegal and the ones trying to collect can be fined.

Ok, before the credit card company sold your account to the other company, Did you include it in the bankruptcy?

If you did include it in your bankruptcy, then they would be violating the automatic stay.

If you didn't originally include this debt in your bankruptcy filing, then you probably owe this debt.

You need to check your original bankruptcy filing paperwork. You can look at the schedules and see if this creditor was included.

If this debt was included in your bankruptcy schedules, I strongly suggest for you to contact your attorney immediately.

I also suggest for you to write a certified letter to the trustee, and advise him/her of violation of the credit card company. I would attach a copy of the bill that was sent to you also.

Good Luck......

If the original debt was included in the legal action then you don't owe it. There are 'zombie' collection agencies that buy old bad debt for a few pennies on the dollar and then aggressively go after the debtors. Don't talk to them. Put the phone down and let them talk to themselves. Don't acknowledge the debt in any way. Google zombie debt collectors.

It would be nice if you knew how to spell debt.
