2 Chord Guitar Songs For Beginners

I don't know what kind of music you're interested in, but if you're an absolute beginner then just learning 3 or 4 chords would get you a long way. For example, if you play G, C and D (and even better if you include Em) you can play literally thousands of songs in all kinds of styles. I'm a Bob Dylan fan so I would go for things like "Blowin' in the Wind" or "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". Johnny Cash's "Walk the Line" is also a fairly simple three chord song, as is his "I Still Miss Someone". But just choose the simple songs that you like and try playing them with 3 or 4 chords (such as the ones above in the key of G). That'll be a pretty good start. I always like to remember what Woody Guthrie said - 'Anyone who uses more than 2 chords is just showing off"!! Hope this helps.

The first song I learned was Time of Your Life by Green Day.
It's got like..4 or 5 really simple chords.
Hell if I remember what they are though.

Well first you need to learn some chords & then you need to choose songs you like. If you dont like the song it propably wont ever sound good...

Go to www.chordie.com/chords.php and print out the chord chart!

They also list TONS of songs at this site with lyrics and chords, this will get you well on your way...

You can also go to www.ultimate-guitar.com and look for songs you like. They will be listed as CHORDS, TABS or POWER TAB.

-Chords will be just that, someone will post a song with lyrics and the chords that go along with it.

- Tabs will have chords (possibly lyrics) and will also indicate note for note details of the song and solos.

- Power Tabs are run on a seperate program that shows notes & plays music in time (this is kinda lame)

My sugestion is to get the chord chart and then print some songs that reference the chords, this will get you started and also will familiarize you with the various chords. Once you spend time on this and get comfortable then start studying your scales!
