Claire or Klaire

My husband and I have been talking alot about what we are going to name or next child. Were not pregnant, were not even trying right now, but we have been thinking about names alot. We have 4 children and two of them have R names and two of them have two J names and my husband also has a J name. So I have decied that when we have our final child it will have a K name like mine. For a boy it will be Kaleb, but for a girl I really want the name Claire and I was sure what people thought of having it spelt with K. Thanks in advance for your opions.

My one son's name is spelled different, but the other 3 aren't. His name is Raygan and I spelled it that way cause I wanted it to look more manly and cause I didn't want to name him Raymond.

Doodlebug, I really like your idea about changing the C in Claire to a K. Klaire... I like it. My daughter's name is Rylee, which isn't the traditional spelling either and I am very happy I spelled it that way. We also picked an R name to name her after my hubby's Bubbe (grandmom) whose name was Ruth. We didn't like Ruth, but decided to go with Rylee.

My opinion? If you want a K name, use a K name. Caleb and Claire both begin with Cs, I'm sorry to say. Are your other children's names misspelled? If so, you may have already set that precedent, but if not, it seems odd to begin doing so now, giving a future child a name that will seem ignorant and have proven socioeconomic repercussions.

That said, there's absolutely no reason to feel you need to give your child a name starting with a certain letter here. So what if there are three Js, two Rs and one K in your family? That's not exactly a "theme," and you're certainly not obligated to try and continue it. If you like Claire or Caleb, by all means use them. They SOUND like Ks, after all, so if you really need a nod to your own name for some reason, perhaps that's enough.

Good luck.

I think its a sweet idea to do that. Its not like its completely crazy, Klaire is a name which exists, it's no different to naming her something more unusual like Kayley or Keira or such. Its a variant of a name... just like Clare is a variant of Claire. Neither one is wrong or right, and names will always be mis spelled, a good friend of mine is called Clare and sometimes gets her names mis spelled, but theres nothing wrong with that. If you were doing it for some random reason i might suggest a more traditional spelling, but i think its a good idea, and that the name will have sentimental meaning to your daughter when she grows up.
Go for it, Klaire is nice. And who knows, you may end up with a boy so theres no need to stress!
Hope that helps! :)

I think that it's a creative way to spell the name, but personally, I prefer the traditional spelling with a C. If you insist on a K name, there are a lot of pretty names that start with a K, like Kate (Katherine, Katie, Katrina, etc) just as an example.

Regardless, you shouldn't worry too much about what other people think. Pick the name that makes you happy, and your child will be happy too! Good luck.

I am not sure that I like Claire with a K. It's just one of those names that everyone knows is spelled Claire and it doesn't have variations. My daughter's name is Kayli and you can spell it Kayli, Kaylie, Kaleigh, Kaylee...tons of ways. I also have a son named Caden. I think that even if you spell it Claire, it will still be the K sound that you are going for. I have Kaleb, Noah, Kayli, and Caden. I am also looking for a name that will not leave my son Noah out!! Good luck!!

Klaire - not fond of unique spellings. She will forever have the pleasure of explaining her name and spelling it for others.

Either drop the name Claire and go with a different K name or drop the K stipulation.

My middle name is spelled CLARE. I didn't like it as a child but I am so grateful that I have a different spelling that you don't see much at all. It just adds to the uniqueness of the person I think! Good luck deciding. I am pregnant with our second and I am clueless about the name!
