My son is in vacation bible school this week and they are doing a spy theme. they were told to wear something a spy would wear. He is 4. any ideas?

Something a spy would wear? Well, they're probably talking cartoons and movies as real spies would wear something appropriate to fit in with their surroundings. In other words, if their going to be in a place where folks are largely dressing in buisness suits, then they'll wear a buisness suit rather than say a joging suit. If folks are dressing very casually (shorts and t-shirt kind of thing), then really dressing up in a tux would really stand out.
Think James Bond, I Spy, Secret Squirrel, Get Smart, Natasha and Borris from the Rocky and Bulwinkle Show. Those types of things are probably more what they've got in mind. Secret Squirrel, a Hanna-Barbera cartoon spy character, wears a trench coat and a hat that fits down over his eyes. He's got eye holes cut into the brim so he can see. Bond usually wears a nice buisness suit.

Go to a nearby thrift store (Goodwill, Valueland, etc.) and get some black sweat pants, a black cotton shirt, some big dark shades, and if possible along dark jacket. If you can get a little notebook and a magnifying glass and you should be good to go!

Sooth Sayers, astrological spyers of bible times.. the word astrology didn't exist then! they are usually in all black a hooded robe and wear silver charms and some carry pouches and sticks.. they say to protect themself from demons!
