first consult your technical manual for this machine it should have a trouble shoot ing section. follow their instructions.

try this clean out your drain you may have some food particle jammed in there. then run the machine ,replace the soap with a cup of white vinegar run the full cycle the smell should go away. or
Clean the gasket and run again with the vinegar or lemon detergent.

How ever does the water smell funny in the bathroom sink, shower or kitchen sink? if so do you have a water softener system or filter system? then check the filters and chemical levels
if bad then replace the filters and fill the softening agents. let the water run for a while then run the water the smell should go away.
if not, then it sounds like you have a bacteria problem in your water supply line check you filters and replace old or worn out ones. if the smell goes away then problem solved. else you'll have to replace the feed line.
If you don't have a water softening system or filtration system you may want to put one in. this will help eliminate future problems.

try running the dishwasher thru with a cupful of white vinegar (place the cup inside the dishwasher with the vinegar in it)...
vinegar tends to disinfect and makes stuff that smell bad come fresh... even though vinegar smells bad, it does'nt stink up stuff...

perhaps the dirt trap could have been clogged thus getting the weird smells.... you have to fiddle around to find the source of the smell....

do not use soap meant for hand-washing.. i did that once and the whole dishwasher was full of bubbles... it is never meant to be used in a dishwasher...

This really works and it's super cheap I do it at least once a month...Get either generic/regular Kool-Aid unsweetened packets any kind I like lemon/ or orange, but get whatever you like and pour acouple pkg. in the dispenser and run an empty cycle.. The citric acid will freshen the dishwasher..It works and it smells good..Like kool-aid... It's so much cheaper than buying Jet-Dry cleaner.

If the smell is really bad, it sounds like you have some food particles stuck in the drain. Remove the bottom wire shelf. Use a flashlight and inspect around the drain, remove anything that shouldn't be there. You may have to disconnect the drain and flush it to remove any trapped particles in there as well. The drain connects to the disposal unit (assuming that you have a disposal), it's a rubber hose. Remove it at the disposal and at the connection to the dishwaher, flush it, then reinstall it.

Clean out the filter inside the dishwasher, as it may be full of food particles. Try running the dishwasher with a lemon scented dishwasher soap. Hopefully, that will eliminate the odor.

first use a kitchen cleaner to get all the gunk out of the corners and around the door. Then run the dishwasher empty with vinegar in the soap dispenser. You can also buy citric acid to help clean it also.

use bleach! about one cup and run the dish washer by itself
on that alone. also you may need to check your pipes going out from the sink you may have grease trapped in the trap which is causing a lingering odor but do the bleach first
BE CAREFUL of your clothing.
