It depends on what kind of acting you want to do in the future. Movies? Broadway? It all depends. If you were to enroll in an acting school right now (most likely this would be one working with Live Threatre) , you would learn things like projection and enunciation, stage directions, facing the audience, and building a character. Most people, when they say they want to be an actor or actress when they grow up, are thinking along the lines of movies and TV shows where everything is totally different than Live Threatre. Example: In movies, the camera can zoom in to see simple face expressions where in Live Threatre, you have to make big notions to get across. But, any drama experience at all will help you with a career in the future.

No, this will not help at all. The best thing to do to get better at acting is to act. Audition for everything you can -- school, community, TV, commercials, film -- and eventually, you'll discover one style or medium that suits you better than others. Pursue that one. Take classes. Learn to sing and dance and act and jusggle and tumble. Go to as many plays as possible and learn something from each one even if it might be "Well, that's one play I WON'T be doing." A drama club may put you in contact with other like-minded sould, but just participation in a drama club is not going to help you become a better actor.

Joining a drama club is a great idea and many people who are now famous actors started that way. I was in a drama class with a woman who eventually acted in a movie with Denzel Washington. She didn't really have a big part, but she's the only person I went to school with who was in any movie with anybody.

Any style of acting is good to know. It's education. Even if you prefer not to use it, it's just another method. If one day you work with a director who prefer's the Meisner technique or absolutely love's Pinter... you may know about that because of this group. Or not, but what could it hurt?

As far as acting schools, they're all unique. My advice is to check them out for yourself because you need to find the right fit for you. Just because your favorite actor may have gone to a certain place, doesn't mean that their methods will work for you. Call them up, check out their websites, see if you can audit a class or take a summer workshop or something that's less commital than a whole year or semester's worth of study to be sure that it's the right place for you.

There isn't any place I can think of that you're going to walk in the door and just be doing scene work from films... You have to work on many different thing. Improv, scene work, techniques, whatever! You have to find a place that no matter how weird the people are, you a get the feeling that you can trust them! ;-P

Good luck!

even if it's different styles in acting from movies to stage and whatnot, joining the drama club in ur school will at least give u stage experience in getting used to standing and talking in front of a large audience.
