Hey! Well if all you are wanting to do is charge it, it's fine! It is connected to a power source and it is charging! But, if you are wanting to pu new songs on it do the following:

Do you remember when you got your iPod and it came with a CD that you had to register it with! Well all you have to do is just register it again! It is a very simple problem to fix!

Try restarting the computer, but you probably did that already. Then reset the ipod.

To reset the ipod:
Turn the Hold switch on, then turn it off again.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple appears, again, roughly 6 to 10 seconds

That will reset the ipod and it should now connect when you connect it to the computer. Go to apple website for more info.
