I really loved all three of those movies, but the BEST would have to be Dreamgirls. The story was rather easy to follow and I enjoyed all of the songs. I am addicted to the soundtrack, mainly because Jennifer Hudson's talent is simply amazing. Rent is something of a cult classic, but the movie has not been acclaimed or anything much. Chicago was very successful, winning a few Academy Awards. But definitely, Dreamgirls was simply amazing and well-crafted. I enjoyed every bit of it.

Present day musicals like Chicago and Dreamgirls seem to be entirely different genres from the large-scale musicals of the past like The Sound of Music, South Pacific, and West Side Story. If I had to compare one era to the other, I feel the classics would rate more consideration as "best" in my book. Any one of the three musicals I named would be worthy of the title.

I'll have to go with oldies too, 'The Sound of Music' is the best, but you cannot beat 'Singing In the Rain' that one is the best of all time. I really love 'Chicago' too. 'Grease' is an amazing one too. I haven't seen 'Rent', but it got good reviews....though who can really listen to those anymore. I've said it before and I'll say it again..."Hollywood is a messed up place right now." (and I'm NOT just talking about the town)

West Side Story
The Music Man
Fiddler on the Roof
Grease

out of the ones you list "Chicago" would be my choice. You can't beat Fosse style and heterosexual relationships.

My well-liked musical is Westside tale. My daughter had the lead function as Maria. We spent what regarded like infinite nights on the rehearsals and that i became a point mom, I scheduled the prepare snacks for the little ones and it became distinctive paintings. all of it paid off simply by fact the three weeks of exhibits have been often bought out! It became outstanding! My well-liked action picture musical is the Sound of track. Yeah, maximum human beings think of it incredibly is a dorky action picture, even though it is so advantageous and upbeat and that i like the track from it. it incredibly is a classic and that i like it simply by affection that the little ones have been shown.
