Because there are those who love to sling insults at anyone and everyone who disagrees with their point of view.

I guess I'm racist because I detest illegal immigration.

Okay, so if Congress and the President change the law tomorrow removing all barriers to immigration, you'd support it, right? Are you sure your only problem with illegal immigration is that it's against the law? Because the government could very easily change the law. You'd have to come up with a different argument, then. Being anti-immigration or anti-illegal immigration isn't intrinsically racist. Of course not. That's inflammatory and silly. You shouldn't take that criticism seriously. However, I think some people use the "law" as a guise to mask their real feelings on the matter. In a few cases, I know racism plays a part. If not racism, then xenophobia and nativism. Neither is a good trait for a human being to have. Without knowing your real reasons, I couldn't possibly say why you're so opposed to illegal immigration. I do know that the law is irrelevant since the law isn't a static force. The law should reflect what's right and wrong. So, when you reveal why you think the law is right, rather than resorting to supporting the law for the law's sake, then I'll be able to render a decision. As for me, I disagree with the laws on the books. I disagree with a lot of laws on the books. And for those laws that I do like, I don't try to justify their existence by saying that they exist. That's circular reasoning.

I oppose illegal immigration. and I don't consider myself a racist. I grew up with affirmative action, sensitivity training, learning respect for all people. In the military, it was required training. I have worked side by side with people from nearly every race. I have never been called a racist by any of those people, and I have never called any of them a racist.
Illegal immigration is a huge problem that has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with the law. I am not sure what you consider Real Racism. can you explain it to us?
I really don't see racism in my day to day life.

It's not nice to throw around names if someone doesn't agree with you. I think everyone is or should be opposed to illegal immigration. The question is what to do with the immigrants who are here? There is no way to to get all 12 million out and we can't just keep going business as usual. It makes sense to come up with some method to allow those who are honestly willing to take whatever steps are necessary to repay the American government and people and live in an orderly fashion to have a chance to become legitimate. At least that's my opinion.

It is not racist to oppose illegal immigration. It is not demeaning to people who claim to suffer from racism. Some just use that old race card and pretend it is so demeaning, because there is money to be made with that card.

There are people out there who are unable to articulate an argument as to why you may be against the immigration. Liberals like to throw around generalizations. If the premise for your opposition is soundly based on the effects of illegal immigration in terms of economics or social ramifications, then you are not racist and those who make such an allegation are ignorant.

Well, it isn't racist; those opposed to enforcement of immigration laws want you to think they think you're racist so you'll feel bad about opposing illegal immigration. It's a well thought-out tactic. Pulling the race card is very effective in todays social environment.

They've figured out that it's not what you think about yourself or what others think about you that's important. What most influences a person is what they think others think about them.

The thing they're really saying is that they think you're a simple minded boob (Chicken Little?) and you'll be scared to death that somebody is going to think you're a racist.

THAT's racist on their parts -- assuming you meant a particular race had something to do with a predisposition to crime.

When certain crimes are perpetrated by people predominately of one race, it's not racist to point out the crime. What would be racist would be to say that people of that race are somehow genetically wired to commit that crime.

When geographical considerations are understood in the context of illegal immigration, it might be natural to equate this with Hispanics; but it's not about Hispanics -- it's about border-jumpers of any race.

That's not racist, but the people who play that card are racists. Usually, that's their only card -- more evidence that they're not playing with a full deck!

I think you just misunderstand where they are coming from. It is usually seen as racist because latinos are being targeted. It is real racism. They just happen to be the race at this time period that needs to leave a desperate situation and escape into our country to make something for themselves and their families. I think politicians have unfairly used this issue as a scapegoat for the problems in this country. There are far bigger issues like the education system to worry about. Don't forget that the latino population plays an important part in this country. This happened to the Chinese too when they came over here to work on our railroads, and then the gov't tried to limit how many could come over. Please just try to understand that at the basics, we're all just human. They have the same needs as us; they deserve a chance to survive don't they? Well, that's only my opinion though... Sorry if it's not the answer you were looking for.

It isn't racist. This is what the leftists and Mexicans want you to think. You don't hear Rev. Jackson or that other shithead from New York cry racism. They cry racism for anything going on in the USA.
