A band called SWEET (known in Europe as The Sweet) are maybe my favorite band of the 70s. A lot of folks don't know that they actually know the band, but they definitely know at least one of their hits:
"Wig Wam Bam"
"Fox On The Run"
"Ballroom Blitz"
"Little Willie"
Great stuff - check 'em out!
Also: anything by The Smiths, The Replacements, Queen, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Billy Squier, Yes, Asia, The Cure, The Cult, Pixies, The Ramones, and Judas Priest.

Anything by Aerosmith, especially off "Toys in the Attic" (No more No more is an excellent jam), or Aerosmith Rocks. Anything by Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Yes, or Rush (Exit stage left is a must own piece of brilliant live music by Canada's premiere band (possibly the best band EVER) ).
