My sprinkler is cracked. I think it is the selenoid but I am not familiar with the parts of an automatic sprinkler system. Where can I find specs or diagrams on the sprinker system? I have a 3/4" Richdel 711 DPR (150 psi max).

Yes it is leaking. There is a crack at the base of the peice where the wires are coming out of it. I can unscrew a cap like peice and remove the the cracked peice but I am not sure what it is called. There are other peices attached like a coiled spring and stuff.

there may be something not lined up properly with the solenoid. check that, and it could be leaking from the valve.
richdell valves can be tricky to replace if your not experienced with them, you might be better off cutting it out and putting in a brand new valve.

hope this helps

Unscrew the solenoid, see if there is a white piece of plastic on the bottom that holds the plunger in. If not, it is the O-ring style and the O-ring is dry rotted or missing (it will be in the valve still). Or the threads are screwed up on the solenoid. The valve does not usually crack in that area. I have replaced many of those O-rings in my 11 years as a sprinkler tech.

To answer there needs to be more detail. Does cracked mean it is leaking? Watering system solonoids have replaceable guts so you don't have to undo plumbing to get them functioning, but obviously that doesn't apply if the fittings, pipe or housings are cracked.
The solonoids can be housed near the timer or wires can run to solonoids located in distribution access holes out in the yard (or both) The former requires more pipe, the latter more wire and exposes the solonoids to the weather. (indirectly)

I'm not familiar with the Richdel model. I found only one resource that may be helpful to you. You may be able to contact them for a product manual maybe. Good luck.
