I think it was a bit excessive. However I doubt if he'll serve much or any of it. It will be appealed, and even if the appeal fails there is a good possibility of a presidential pardon.

If a senior official in a previous administration can steal classified documents, smuggle them out, and walk, Libby should be eligible for canonization.

just right, anyone who is ina position of power in our great democracy has a heavy responsibility...he violated the whole nations trust...he is getting what he deserves, and if the shrub even thinks about a pardon for libby, well, that will be another in a long line of mistakes that he has made thus far.

skip742: Libby was not sentenced for the leak. He was tried and convicted for perjury and obstruction of justice.

And no, I think he got what he deserved.

I would have to agree with Warren D. I do not think it was much of a sin compared to much of what goes on in most current administrations. I have the feeling that he was tossed of the sled for the wolves.

I think it was excessive for the leak, but probably just about right for everything else he's done that we don't know about.
