I usually let it go...they may not realize they're being rude. For instance, the other day I saw a cousin I hadn't seen in a while. To make conversation, he asked me when I was going to have my baby....I had my baby 3 weeks ago....I have to admit it made my jaw drop (I look fat now not pregnant LOL) but I realized he was just trying to chit-chat, so I didn't say anything other than the baby was 3 weeks old, doing great, and he should stop over and visit sometime. Now, if someone is purposely rude to me, I try to let it go with a clinched jaw and a smirk, however sometimes I will spout something back if I have the right thing to say at the right time.

If time allows ( at the moment of rudeness) let the rude person know what's up. Most people are rude to others because they don't like what's going on in their own lives. Most of the time though, I just let it go, and let Karma take care of it. Nowadays, in most cases, it's better to let it roll and ignore the rudeness...society is crazy nowadays and people get shot, stabbed, run off the road, etc. over trivial crap. Water off a ducks back....

Depends on the situation, usually let it go (not one to let things get to me) but if it's in a store or something I'm rude back at them - I see it as if they want my money show me some respect.

I let it go, of course. Usually people are more likely to be rude to a complete stranger just to blow off steam, or because they know they won't see them again. Therefore, it doesn't make sense for me to waste my time trying to get back at them. I honestly feel sorry for them.
It's sad that a lot of people nowadays don't respect themselves enough to show that they have class & not make an ass of themself in public by being rude to others. It's also sad to see their targets blow up after they have done their thing & left the scene. What a waste of energy & what a way to make yourself look completely immature & low-class.

I let go ONCE and if it happens again I say, "I'm not sure you're aware of how that sounds, but you seem to have a HABIT of saying/doing that. It comes across as rude and I know you aren't meaning to be rude to me." Make it seem as if they have no idea they're being a jerk. Tell them you are sure they didn't mean it. It takes them off guard and they'll do better around you next time.

Oh my. There is NO WAY I can keep my mouth shut......even with a tube of Super Glue! Seems like all my life I have had to be on the defensive for one reason or another, so when someone shoots off their mouth to me, I guess it's natural instinct for me to fire back. Don't get me wrong........I hate this about myself. It and patience is something I WISH I could learn!! So to answer your question, my response is always to get back at them with an even more nasty remark.

Lot a variables but...
Never cause a scene, never forget and always be cool.
Very rarely is there an excuse to be rude. Be the better person.

I generally tell them how I feel if they are rude.

One time in the check out at Wal-Mart the girl was so rude to me and very snotty, I turned around to the person behind me and said "I hope she's nicer to you than she was to me." The lady just smiled at me. The checkout girl was left speechless.

It is best to overcome rudeness with good. I try to go out of my way to bless them somehow. Either that or let it go.

My boyfriend's mother is always rude to me, but I don't have the nerve to tell her off, so I just let it go. One of these days she's going to push my buttons too far.
