The biggest thing is to RELAX. Tightening up those vaginal muscles will get you nowhere! Make sure you have the correct tampon size to start with. Generally, you shouldn't need to use lubricant, but if you do make sure it's water based (you can get it anywhere - grocery store, chemist etc). When inserting, try different positions to see what gets you the best result - place a foot up the toilet seat , or even crouch down. The bathroom can also be a good place to try it out as it is more roomy than the toilet - just make sure you lock the door! Lastly, tampons need to be inserted slightly back, not straight up. They should go in approx the length of your finger and you should not be able to feel them when inserted correctly. Good luck!

I did something embarrassing when I started wearing tampons and I'll share it with you in case you're doing the same thing.
I put the whole thing in..and it hurt when I walked. You have to insert it, but hold on to the bottom tube and push the end of it so that the fiber part comes out of the "applicator" into you.. Then you pull both of the "hard" parts out and leave the fiber in with the string on the outside of your body.
I hope this helps

1] get a mirror, a junior tampon, vaseline, and go in the bathroom
2] look the door
3] take off pants and panties
4]squat on floor
5] look at your perineum with the mirror on the floor
6] put vaseline on the end of the tampon, and insert it at a 45 degree angle [ towards the small of your back ]
7] push until it won't go any furthur, push in 'plunger', and remove applicator
8] you should not be able to feel the tampon, and string should be visible.
Good luck!

does it hurt after you try putting it in? if so you`re doing it wrong. you take the applicater and insert and push the bottom of the applicator up. it shouldn`t hurt once its in. if it does it is not up far enough. sounds gross but yeah it`s the truth.

Maybe your nervous or scared about it. Try to practice relaxing first. It won't work if your all tense. Perhaps your not ready to use them either.

See an OBGYN and ask about it. Maybe YOUR body cannot accommidate them (yet). Maybe you need a different size. Maybe you need advice before you practice again.

Your hymen is probably too small to accomodate the tampon, if you want to get it in you will have to tear it (your hymen, not the tampon).
On the plus side if you do that it won't get torn when you lose your virginity. :)-
