Babies can stand long before they can walk...my daughter first pulled up at 5 months and walked at 9 months, with my son doing those just a month behind her. She is 6 and he is 4.

Your son is VERY SMALL. My son is 7 months and is 22 lbs and 31 inches long. (was born at 19 inches long and 7.3 lbs. )
My son has been sitting up on his own since he was 5 months and can stand unassisted for a few seconds. However, he cannot crawl whatsoever. Baby's develope in all different ways. Start teaching him things, like clapping or blow bubbles with his lips etc. He will pick it up very quickly. Thats what i am on now. Try that, he will amaze you!

When he is ready. If he wants to stand let him, some say it damages the legs, but I have never seen it in my 16 years of child care and over 300 children. I have seen children walk at 8 months. Please make sure your child gets enough floor time so that he does develop normally as in rolls, crawls, pulls up and then walks. They have shown where children who do things out of this order can have Autism.

Well if he is anything like my son, eventually he will learn to pull himself up (about 8 months) then he will all of a sudden start crawling because if he gets to something he can pull himself up and cause all sorts of trouble. Then in less than a month he will be walking and never, ever stop.

Seriously everytime I take him out someone says "He never stops does he" I'm soooooooooo tired.

If you are going to try to get your son to stand up make sure to provide alot of support . You still holding most of his weight, but your getting him us to walking . Their are some babies that walk at 9 months, but make sure you are not pushing him to hard. It will hurt him, and it will take him longer to walk.
