During the time of Blacklight painting, I painted a poster with an intermeshing of 3 complete alphabets. I put it in the entrance alcove with a black light over it and a small label at its bottom. The Label stated, "This Poster contains every obscene and curse word ever created."
I had invited 8 couples over to play Bridge. Each couple saw the poster on entering. The all had reactions. Do you think you can figure out who did and said what?

All 3 alphabets were the English alphabet. The letters had no pattern or reason other than making them all viewable and somewhat arty.

I had written down what each person would do before they arrived and gave it to my wife. She didn't believe I could predict such a thing. I only missed on one female.

One last hint and then I'll pick best answer. There are always those "gossips" who are looking for a reason to gossip. There are always those who are looking for sin.

Hmmm....You knew these couples, so you knew their backgrounds. It would be much easier for you to figure out. Come on, throw us a bone. lol. :)
EDIT
OK, I am going to divide these 8 couples. 4 are agnostic/atheists/freethinkers, etc. The other 4 couples are religious in background and practice.
Religious reactions were appalled that you would display such offensive material in your home. I would think they would whisper amongst themselves and make judgments. None of them would see it as art, only as something potentially offensive.
The non-religious couples would have a wider variety of reactions. Some would admire it for the artistic components. Some would find humor in it. Some others would try to see how many curse words they could find.
I would note I based these reactions on stereotypes. I have a Christian background, but I haven't belonged to a Church since I was 17. So I would be the one you didn't guess. I would have noted the artistic value and then look for the curse words! LOL.

The people who could read English and the other alphabets from the other languages probably were offended, the ones who couldn't read judged by the other's reactions that something was out of place and to keep from admitting that they cannot read any of these three alphabets and embarassing themselves acting stunned as well. One couple commented on the creativity of the poster. One couple couldn't even make out the poster but saw the label and went beserk. Another simpler explanation could be that you could only make the curse words because the letters were there to form the curse, not because they were placed on the poster in the order neccessary to make them, thus the couples would all just laugh except for maybe one who didn't get the joke. If I wanted to get really specific then I would say your question is screwy and answer "Yes" because you only asked "could I figure it out" not "what did they do"

My guess is seven of the eight men could find the curse words while the women couldn't see them?
