If you found it at a store, tell the store you found it but give them your name and number for the owner to call and identify it so you can return it. This way you can make sure Joe Shmo at the store doesn't take it from the lost and found.

If you found it in a public place like the street or park, turn it into the local police dept and leace your name and number so you will be able to keep any cash if not claimed but mainly so that the police can see if the person who owns it is alright. the person may be missing or something might have happened to them and the police will find out when they try to trace the credit cards etc.

If you want to do it yourself, since you have a license you can either mail it back to the person or take it there if it's close by. try to get their number from information to call them first.

Good luck. You're doing the right, honest and noble thing by returning it.

You'll get back ten times the good when you do good, and a 100 times the bad when you do bad. And if you ever use stolen money or things they only lead to bad stuff in your life.

My purse was stolen once and it was SUCH a relief that some good samaritan found it in the trash (after the money was taken) and returned my driver's license and pictures.
By then, of course, I'd already canceled my credit cards but they were still there. ANYWAY, it's very stressful to lose your wallet, so either call them or mail it back to them.

I once found a driver's license on the ground and mailed it to her.

If you turn it in to the police or try to contact the person who lost it, that would be a good thing. If you decide to see if any of the credit cards for personal gain, then that would be a bad thing. Just think how you would feel if you lost your wallet with either money or credit cards and personal I D intact and act accordingly......

Your primary concern should be to avoid getting yourself involved with law enforcement in any way.

Get rid of the wallet. Cut the plastic IDs into little pieces and throw the pieces away, scattered throughout town. Keep the paper money. Anything else made of paper should be burned to ashes. If possible, dispose of the wallet in such a way your fingerprints aren't recoverable.

How about turning it in to the police?

If you were to contact the owner directly, he or she might suspect that you were just fishing for a reward.

If, instead, you turned it in to the police, the owner is more likely to seek you out and offer a reward unprompted.

If the owner should choose not to offer a reward, look at it as no harm, no foul. You would still have done the right thing.

Call the person on the drivers license and if you cant get a hold of them then bring it to the police station. Hey you are an honest person....nice to know there is still some out there.

you call the person on the driver's license, call the bank if there is a bank card, or turn it into the police. If it happened to you, you would like it to be returned so do the same.

You can try to look up the person using the name on the license. You could send it to them at the address on the DL. Or you can take it to the police station. It is good to know that there are honest people out there like you still. Kudos.

Find a phone number and call the person and arrange to give it back. If no phone number turn it in at a police station and let them return it to the rightful owner.

First put the name into the search engines of myspace and facebook to see if they have one. If they do message them and tell them you have their wallet. If they do not have either of those then look them up in the phonebook by last name and address and leave them a message...if you want you could also send it in mail to them but that would cost money..good luck!!
