yes it is worth more its about 2-3 cents. why? its made out of copper the new ones aren't. but people at stores don't care.

Yes. Pennies of today are made mostly of zinc. A penny from 1965 still had a pretty good copper content. It might be worth about three cents.

What sort?
"Penny" is not an actual USA coin, although it was Colonial tender. The USA coin is a "one cent" piece.
A 1965 coin might have special value for a person born in that year. A 1965 "penny" marked "penny" rather than "one cent" (from outside USA) might be a thoughtful gift for a person born in married or graduated in 1965 who has the name or nickname of "Penny" (sometime from Penelope).

You could try to sell the penny to someone who collects them.
Then yes, your penny would be worth more money than a regular, more recent penny.

no but a penny from 1945 or later that is conducted by a magnet is worth 1/4 of a million to a million, which i doubt you have.
