i have a 99 ford expedition...i have to keep putting water in the "tank thing under the hood where the green stuff goes"...LOL.....if i am driving to a city an hour away....the water will run out in about 30 minutes....then i have to put more water in....and the funny thing is that it really doesn't run HOT...could it be a hose problem or do i just need a whole new radiator? How much does a radiator run for?

It can be leaking anywhere - hoses, radiator, head or intake gasket, heater core...
You may not need a radiator but your occasionally self-rolling monster definitely needs one. If it's leaking at the pace you are describing, it cannot possibly not overheat but if coolant (or water) level is low enough, the tempreature sensor may not immediately reflect engine temperature, and when it finally does, it may be too late.

I recently had to have a new radiator installed on my 91 Prelude. It cost me a little over $200, but that was with a slight labor discount since I'd just had the engine rebuilt not a week earlier. There ended up being a 3" long crack on the very top, which made the car heat up if it idled too long. Now it's running perfectly. I only found out about the radiator when the car started smoking while sitting at a stoplight on the way home from work one night. the next morning I noticed a puddle in the driveway under the front of the car. You should make sure that it's a radiator you need, and if it is, you need one, unless you want to keep putting water in it every 30 minutes, although that kind of leakage sounds like a busted hose or something.

Have the cooling system pressure tested to find the leak, and make the needed repairs with that information.

It could be as simple as a bad radiator cap, or as bad as a blown head gasket! Without seeing the truck, and doing the tests, there is no way to know. Have it checked soon, before you do more damage to the engine!!

You need to find the source of the leak let the engine run until it gets hot. Shut it off and begin looking around for the leak.

First find someone who can find the leak. If it runs dry in 30 minutes it should be easy enough to find. Then you will know where the leak is and what you need, then you can go to the parts store and get prices.

Find out where it's leaking from first.

Maybe it's not a bad radiator??

could be a few things but you should have it checked out as I would only be guessing to give an answer.
