Bands like slipknot, korn, three days grace, disturbed ,etc are destroying good metal and only appeal to 14 yr olds who couldn't tell you who Pantera is

Yeah mainstream metal sucks these days. the only new band worth listening to is Mastadon. Ill listen to my old Maiden Records over any crap put out in this decade. At least be thankful that rap/metal is dead!

I have to disagree for the simple fact that nothing will "destroy" metal. As with any genre of music, there are good times and there are bad. At this point, the pendulum is at the far side of bad. This will not take anything away for the fantastic metal that has already been created; in fact, I think it adds to it as it makes people appreciate the incredible music that is around.
Then again, some people are just going to always enjoy what is mainstream. I say too bad for them... as they are definitely missing out.

Yes.
But you know why? Because they're a different genre of metal. A genre that's terrible. Nu metal. It's unlike heavy or thrash metal. Stuff like Black Sabbath, old Metallica (Metallica isn't really that good these days), Judas Priest, Megadeth, etc. should be in the heads of teenagers, speaking as a pre-teen (I'm not even 13 yet!).

I respect your opinion, but I like Three Days Grace and Disturbed and I am NOT 14 and I CAN tell you who Pantera is.

ill start by saying that i do like those bands u listened, and yes i have heard pantera
however, you are 100% right. The true metal is the stuff like megadeth, metallica, ozzy osbourne, all that good stuff. What they call metal now is really just rock or hard rock, but all these people that dont know about music think its metal. Its notjust happening in metal tho, its everything. It's like punk is being destroyed because people call bands like my chemical romance punk.

yes, but some may argue that Pantera is mainstream
there are metalheads out there that only like it if its underground and not on labels like Roadrunner and Spitfire Records, but on labels like Nuclear Blast and Metal Blade
I like what some consider mainstream...like old Metallica, all the thrash, Overkill, Testament, and love Pantera
but some consider that mainstream
and regarding the Nu Metal mainstream bands you mentioned...yeah, they suck, somewhat

Korn has been around long enough that they should not be included in this group. But the others, definately. But Breaking Benjamin and Hinder should be on the list too.

Yeah all the mentioned except for Korn I like them. But past glories like Black Sabbath,Judas Priest,Iron Maiden,Venom, Metallica,Slayer ect. will never be realized.
