By using your logic and saying that all adults need discipline, wouldn't it be fair to say also that wives can discipline their husbands when THEY do something wrong? The way you word many of your questions, you imply that only women do things that are wrong, that men are infallible. That is simply not the case.
Yes, in the adult world, there are rules we have to abide by every day. If we break any of those rules, we have to deal with the consequenses. I'm not talking strictly legal, but social, ethical and moral rules as well. In a relationship such as a marriage, there are better ways of dealing with undesired behavior. The solution is very simple: talking. Say I was married and my husband sat in front of the TV all day watching sports. I certainly don't like that. Instead of pitching a fit, the way to correct it is to talk to my husband about why I don't like it when he watches sports all the time (it takes away from our time together, he misses out on time with the kids, household chores get neglected, there are other commitments that have been made, etc.) By having a rational conversation, your point can be made clearly. And through a dialog, a compromise can be reached (read: change in behavior). Isn't this better than disciplining someone like a child?

It should always be considered wrong for a husband to discipline his wife. He doesnt have the right to do so. She is an adult, not a child and he doesnt have the right to decide what is wrong. I agree the man is the head of the family, but God said for man not to rule over woman, but to treat her with love a respect. A marriage is equality and for a man to think he has the right to discipline his wife shows his immaturity. Why if he loved her would he want to degrade her. I believe children need discipline, but I also believe it can be delivered without spanking or hitting. If you teach a child discipline without hitting from the beginning then you never have to worry about that discipline not producing the desired effect. My son is 13 years old and I have never laid a hand on him and would probably beat the hell out of someone who did. He is a very respectful child, very sensitive and and very astute to injustice. If a man spanks a woman it is no difference than physical abuse and should not be tolerated.

First off, why is the man the head of the family. Don`t you think a woman couldn`t be a wonderful head of family too ? Or better both ! Second, when someone is not of the same opinion it doesn`t mean they are wrong. Because if you judge your wife as wrong, she could also do the same with you.
Secondly, you can`t compare children with grown-ups. Children can`t make a counscious choice because they are too young to understand the world around them, and that`s why the parents take charge. But to treat your wife as a child as if she hadn`t any choice is prehistorical the least, if not arrogant and pretentious. Because if you were to correct your wife, you would have to give her the same right to correct you, and if this goes on, you wouldn`t have a wife, you would have a puppet that say yes and amen for everything you say. Is that your idea of a wife, if yes you are sick !

Of course, I believe in discipline, this world would be chaos without it, but where is this scripture that says a man should spank his wife? To the best of my knowledge, it's not there. If you can find 3, you'll convince me. If you can find 1, I'll investigate it. LOL Seriously, though. Try me.
btw...I do know about the ones about submission. Yes, I believe that wives should submit to their husbands, but it doesn't mention spanking or anything there.

Yes, I think it's wrong for a husband to discipline his wife. She is not a child and shouldn't be disrespected.

Well, then, given the argument you make "is it really wrong for a WOMAN to discipline her husband?" Why don't you try that out for a while and see how you like being *disciplined.* I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO SEEK COUNSELING.

Sandstorm, Sandstorm.....lovely Sandstorm.. The husband is only half of that head of the household. No, you can not discipline your wife, well you can do whatever you want but you are asking for more than problems with 'obedience' if you go that route. Good luck to you and the Mrs. ( I hope she doesn't exist or your really just asking for the fun of it all)

ummm......... But, what the man thinks is for her own good, is generally always about it benefiting himself.
Adults do need punishment yes, but thats what jail and the law is about.
I disagree that males are the head of the family. In this day and age - men and women run families.
So in saying this, women should be able to smack their men down when they aren't behaving "properly".
If you are married or have a partner that you feel you need to discipline to do what you want - then you need to find someone else who is already what you want, or you need to buy a blow up doll.

of course it is wrong to discipline your spouse. You are adults, not children who may be disciplined because they dont know when they are in danger. I told my children they would get a spanking if I ever saw them dart into a street,,,they never did and they never got a spanking. A spouse is an equal partner in a relationship....you can discuss your dis-agreements and reach a solution together but one partner should not be the extreme authority...no one is always right.
