Human morality, varying somewhat from one culture and era to another, preceded the invention of organized religion. And all societies, from primitive tribal on up, have had injunctions and sanctions that they live by, even if they did not have any more than some legends about how the world began, as their "religion". Fundamentalists don't care how people think and act, because unless/until they accept the Biblical God, they are still evil "heathens" to the true believers. Scary.

NEVER. He believed in monarchy, hated democracy, was executed after the end of the Punic Wars.

During these wars Athens was ruled by "The Gang of 30" who used their positions to run their political enemies [literally] out of town and seized their property for themselves.
One of this gang was Plato's uncle and Socrates' best friend.

They were run out of power by the Spartans after they defeated Arhens. He was executed because some experiments are just too bad to repeat.

Obviously that lesson in history has been forgotten.

Conservative Demoracy was a balance of abstract thought and they were the best thinkers, they were even imulated in Art. Liberals were the ones running around trying to get everybody upset with conspiratory ideas! Upsetting the public and manipulating the civic leaders(Media)

I don't compare the ancient historical figures of the past with today's liberals. I can't even compare libs with "classical liberals" of 60 years ago.

Socrates was the first Liberal. His crime was that of
luring the young citizens of Athens away from productive lives as artisans and merchants. He was a little bit like the Michael Moore of his day. He attacked the paid pundits of his time. He basically called the whole world a bunch of bullshit and recommended reworking the whole society with strong governmental influence and limited personal choice except for a select elite. He was accused of "making the weaker argument seem stronger". He liked to criticize for the sake
of criticizing. Athens was one of the most just, free and egalitarian societies of its time. But that was not good enough for him.
