Well, he means well. But he is a bit self defeating and hypocritical at times. U2 just moved it's business dealings out of Ireland to the Netherlands to avoid higher taxes on their millions, which would have been put to use in Ireland's economy and infrastructure, so there is some hypocrisy of not putting ones money where ones mouth is. Most people including "rich" Americans are just trying to keep a roof over their head. I do get tired of celebs preaching as they are very very disconnected with the average person who tends to work many more hours , have less free time and money and can't devote themselves to charitable causes at will. Many fly (polluting) private jets to the countries they want to help when giving the thousands they spent going there would have done more good than lambasting others and spending the money on their trip.
He does mean well. Not sure that he belongs in politics though.

I think it's great that Bono is so involved in trying to make the world a better place. I don't believe that he is self-righteous. I think he just wants to raise the general public's awareness of what's wrong with the world and how they can make it better.

I'm more sick of assholes like you criticizing Bono for trying to make a difference. What have you done to assist a hundred thousand sick and starving people?
Why can't you shave your butt and learn to walk backwards in order to beautify the public streets?

Including YOU!!! Bono has a big heart.

I thought it was pretty cool the way the Canadian Prime Minister let him know just how much he (Bono) fits in the scheme of things.

Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but no. He does a lot of good charity work and has gone down to Africa to feed the orphans or something. But I agree with the shaving thing. Hippees are for the 70s!

I wouldn't care so much about the self-riteousness if former fans hadn't noticed a direct relationship between the level of public angst and the standard of their music . . . isn't it possible to be angry about stuff and raise public awareness about it while still releasing good albums? They used to be able to do it . . . remember their song "Where the Streets Have no Name"?
