If it happens only when you start the car and when it is cold I suggest that you have the belts checked to see if they are at the right tension, or if they need replacing they do stretch a little and when they become a little loose they will squeal until they warm up. with 94 k I would make sure that the timing belt has been changed and the the transmission fluid has been replaced.

Have you checked your belts lately. Im sure if you take it to a mechanich they can check into for about ten to fifteen dollars like they do here at firestone. If you end up having them repair it they will take that amount off your repair bill.

Belt tensioner, idler pulley, alternator, or A/C pulley bearings are dry and need to be replaced before they lock up and leave you stranded with an overheated engine..

sounds like a sticking lifter too me, my suggestion is to put a pint of Rislone engine treatment in it to help get the lifter lubed up and unstuck
