The fumes from this chemical can melt contact lenses while in a persons eyes. There is one more word in the name of the chemical...The first word being "methyl" , the next word is the name I am looking for, and the last word being "acolyte". It has a very strong odor resembling something between melting plastic and paint thinner. I would like to know the complete name of this chemical and any information on any toxicity levels related to inhaling the fumes from it or being exposed to it daily over a period of time.
It's main use is as a sealant for paved surfaces. It is extremely durable, retains some flex when dry, and does not absorb anything spilled on it. I have known of it having to be flown in from Germany for use in the U.S. It is very expensive.

Most likely it is methyl acrylate. This is a chemical used in acrylic polish finishes. It gives a clear, and resistant coating finish. If I recall, Formica brand floor polish used to be based on this.
