Marty has to fight off his mother's teenage advances towards him while trying to help his mom and dad fall in love so he and his siblings will exist in 1985...
He interfered with the original chain of events and changed the future.

Marty jumped in the Delorean trying to get away from the Libyans that had just killed Doc.
Doc had stolen the uranium from the Libyans and they hunted him down.
The last date Doc had set on the Flux Capacitor was the date he hit his head on the toilet and came up with the idea for the Flux.
So when Marty was speeding away from the Libyans, he hit his speed and away he went.
Then, as previously mentioned, he met his mother in the past, who fell in love with him and was re-writing the future.
He had to get his mom unattracted to him, away from Biff and re-attracted to his father, all the while the Doc was trying to come up with a way to power the Delorean, which turned out a lightning strike on the clock tower supplied the energy they needed.
However because his dad had stood up to Biff in the parking lot, when Marty returned to the future, things were different because his dad had an all new confidence, was a writer and was hugely successful!
