If you have a dirty wound you must get a tetanus shot if it has been over 5 years since your last booster. Since it has been over 10, you need to get both tetanus toxoid (the booster) as well as tetanus immunoglobulin (antibodies against tetanus). If you don't and the nail was contaminated then may get the tetanus infection which involves spastic paralysis of all of your muscles. It is one of the most painful ways to die. Go get a shot.

It would be wise to go ahead and go get the tetnus shot. I would also try to see if there is something logged in your foot, if the nail was rusty a piece of the tip could have broke off into your foot. The shot is not so bad, compared to what could happen if you don't keep them up to date. That would be my suggestion.

If you can't be sure the nail was clean (and no nail ever is clean enough to be pushed into your body), you need to go see a doctor. He will probably have to clean the area and go from there.

No, no one can help you over the internet. You need to be seen by a doctor in person.

Not that it is a good idea, but you as a person has the right to refuse any treatment doctor might suggest. He can not force you to have something you don't want, unless he is willing to declear you insane. (unfit to make judgement). At least, get checked out.

You really need to go to a doctor, puncture wounds can be really dangerous, and no matter how much you hate shots you probably need a tetanus shot. Trust me, if you get an infection from it, you will probably be getting a lot more shots, so you should just go now and get one shot, instead of ending up with an infection and getting ten shots.

Sorry, but you need to see a doc and get a tetanus shot. You may have a small piece of the nail in your foot. A shot is not that bad compared to getting lockjaw!

Definitely need a tetnus shot or you could DIE.... a littke needle is much less worse then death isn't it???? Then, if you want to have the doctor check your foot for foreign objects let him...the wound needs a thorough cleaning anyway and I would bet you don't have hydrogen peroxide in your home anyway.. or the proper bandage material.. you need to protect that foot from infections, keep it really clean and keep the bandages clean by changing them regularly...

Let it bleed out good. Because it is a puncture it may not bleed much, you WANT it to bleed a bit, this is the bodies process of cleansing the wound. you may even want to squeeze it a bit to get it to bleed. Apply a bandage with an ointment like neosporin to prevent infection and promote healing. Watch it closely over the next few days if it starts to have excesive pus or starts swelling or getting a red streak going up your foot or ankle then see a dr as this could be signs of infection or blood poisening...very unlikely but just watch it a few days to be sure

You only have to have a tetanus shot every 10 years but you would be pushing it now. Tetanus isn't curable I suggest you get a shot then you will be good til your 31.
