Regarding the no confidence vote for Gonzalez, Bush said:"They can have their votes of no confidence, but it's not going to make the determination about who serves in my government,"

Last I checked, it was OUR government, not his. He works for us, ALL of us. Isn't he an arrogant little twit?

Yeah, some folks will just say that he misspoke & meant to say "my administration."

I, for one, think he said exactly what he meant. . . probably nobody was feeding him the appropriate comments through an earbug just then.

The Constitution says "The executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America."

As an officer of the Executive Department, absent criminal behavior giving grounds for impeachment, the officers of the Executive Department serve at the will of the President.

Bush was elected President (twice) and has hiring (with advise and consent of the Senate) and firing power in the Executive Branch.

It is our government, but it is his administration. As far as I know, the President has very broad power when it comes to appointing who is in his/her Cabinet and when they should leave. The President essentially has the power, of course with the approval of the Senate to appoint any adviser he/she chooses. Only by impeachment can a Cabinet member be removed by Congress.

Bush doesn't care what you think.
It's his government because we've proven that we are unwilling, or unable, to stop him from doing exactly what he wants.
Why should he think otherwise?
And remember, he has popularity polls regularly running in the high 20's...and he can still do whatever he wants.

Hmmm. I suspect the remark has to do with his upbringing, the whole rich-kid frat-boy crack-head mentality. I doubt he was ever denied any one single thing he ever wanted.
This sort of mentality arises when one is born with a silver spoon up one's *ss.

cuz since bush's title is "The president of the united states" he thinks he can do whatever he wants, and does not really know that congress and everyone else in this country disagrees with him. he should resign before his approval rating oes down even lower.
