Not necessarily scary in that it's satanic or evil but in the fact that it was so rebellious when it came out that everybody though it would cause violence by merely being played.

I have two:

When I first bought Nine Inch Nail's The Downward Spiral in '94 it disturbed me so much I had to stop listening to it. I love it now being 13 years older but at the time it upset me in that it was obviously coming from someone who (at the time) was deeply disturbed and in a really bad place in his life. it is a classic record now and I listen to it all the time.

The other one is Delirium Corda by Fantomas. Seriously if you have never heard Fantomas you don't know the meaning of scary music. All that Black and Death Metal is just posing compared to this sh!t. Delirium Corda is one track that is 75 minutes long and is made up of short segments of music and..well noise based around an operation and it sounds like the soundtrack to someones worst nightmare. You know that feeling you get when you have a really bad dream and you are suddenly awake in the dark with nothing but that crushing feeling of utter dread? Well that's what listening to this CD is like...I am serious, go buy it, turn off the lights, get some beers and prepare to feel the walls closing in and things you don't want to be hiding around the corner or under your bed to actually, really be there....muah, mauh, muaaaaah ah aha!

Bands or Songs by Bands that I believe caused controversy probably are:

The Dope Show - Marilyn Manson. Wen I first seen and heard Marilyn Manson I thought he was very satanic and not worth listening to but, when u listen to his lyrics you can actually hear some meaning to it. After all that I'm trying my hardest to never judge a book by it's cover.
Anarchy in the UK - The Sex Pistols. Everytime I listen to The Sex Pistols it always reminds me of the movie SLC Punk. You can't always suggest certain things when your not looking at the world around you closely. Musical artists perform and write lyrics to what they see around them. That is what I get from the Sex Pistols.
All in all musical artists are on the fine line of good and bad it's only how we tend to take it in. We have rap music which is in a huge drought because they are all imitating playing music that doesn't make any sense. I could be wrong but when i listen to the lyrics i hear same old thing over and over again. Rock music is misunderstood at times some rock artists are trying too hard and than we get people saying emo sucks because they cry throughout their whole song. It's not about that. Most times it's about how we feel when we listen to a certain particular song at that moment. Other times are when we listen to the lyrics of a song no matter how corny or good the melody is and understanding the truth to it. Music isn't scary it's how we percieve it to be.

Slayer's Hell Awaits is pretty good, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman always come up with some horrifing guitar riffs, Angel of Death is pretty damn hard too

I love Rage Against the Machine, so I guess that's the closest, but no, there hasn't been a song that's scared me in any way.
