I know that it is said that if you have a 28 day cycle then you ovulate on day 14, but woman can ovulate anywhere from day 10 to day 20. It is better if your luteal phase is at least 8 to 10 days long. That is the time between ovulation and your next expected period. If it is shorter than that you will have a harder time conceiving than if it is at least 8 days long.
You can chart your Basal Body Temperature BBT or your cervical mucous CM or your cervical position CP.

Like most ladies said it depends on how regular your cycle is. It took me 4 months to learn I was ovulating very late because my luteal phase is a little shorter than most ladies. I bought the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor after 2 unsuccessful months of TTC. The first cycle I ovulated at day 21 and the second I ovulated at 27, which is when I got pregnant. I'm not good at charting and I could never interpret the OPKs from the store so getting the fertility monitor was the best thing I could do. I learned my luteal phase was shorter by counting the days between when I know I ovulated and when my period started. For me it's about 10 days and for most ladies it's closer to 12-14. Good luck!

In general, if your cycle is regular, you ovulate 14 days before your period is due to begin (I believe I read this on the insert of an EPT home preg. test). When you're trying to conceive, you want to have the sperm there waiting for your egg, so you actually want to try on the days leading upto ovulation. So if your cycle is the standard 28 days, day 14 would be ovulation, so you should start on day 9 or 10 (day 1 being the first day of your period). Sperm can stay inside you for a few days, while the egg is only available for about a 24 hour window. Good luck!!

It's 11-14 days after the 1st day of you last period if you have regular periods and also ovulate regularly.

Women typically ovulate 14 days BEFORE their next period. So for me I have a 31 day cyycle and ovulate on day 17. If you have an irregular cycle you can use ovulation predictor strips.

depending on your cylce length.. if your cycle is 28 days like most women then yes its 11-14 days after the 1st day of your last period.
If your cycle is different the ovualtion timing will change because it chages everything from ovulation to lutenal phase. best way to tell is to use the chart located here:
http://www.buypregnancytests.com/ovulation-predictor-insdip.asp
it has the cycle length days and when you should start trying.

yes roughly if your cycle is a 28 day cycle you should ovulate around 14 of your cycle. but it is best to try a couple days before around day 11 and on until day 16. so basically 11-16 is the best time to ttc. i am ttc too, i asked my doc and she told me you can go back from 14 days from your next expected period.

no, its too hard to tell that way since all women have different length cycles. the best way to figure it out is to figure out your average cycle length. 28 is defult, but can range from 25-35. mine is 31. After you've figured this out, you have a good guess at knowing when your next period would come. count 14 days before that date and that gives you the best guess! good luck!
