Croping ears isn't done very often these days. It is not necessary.

The only reason their ears were ever cropped was to prevent them from being torn off in a Pit. If you are not fighting your dog there is no logical reason to crop them.

Now days it is even considered to be cruel.

I worked for a vet for years who cropped ears. They are done at 9 weeks old. I hated it...it is so painful to the puppy, and it is not a necessary surgery. It has no health benefits at all like spaying or neutering. My advice? Don't do it to him!

Young! Don't wait too long. If you feel you have to have them done at all. The older, the more painful it is for the dog. I personally like them with natural ears. Think about if you had yours done. It wouldn't be very pleasant. It isn't natural.
