I;m bisexual, but most of my friends don't know this. There's a girl at my school who is older than my friends and I, but she's friends with my two of my friends. This girl is really cool and I just love her, kind of a crush, but more like someone I look up to (what with her being older and 'cooler' than me). I was kidding around with my friends (seperatley) about this girl and I was like 'If I was a guy, I'd date her. If I was gay, I'd date her', but I said this stuff online so I don't know thier reaction. I was kidding. From my point of veiw, it's not strange, it's just a joke, but i want to know, for those of you who are straight, what would you think? Would you take it was a joke or what?

I am a lesbian, but I notice good looking guys all the time. As I always say I am gay, not blind. Just because your "straight" (to your friends) and saying that is no different. It's actually much more common in straight girls to talk about how pretty other girls are and if they don't they probably gay.

I used to work with a guy who had this ice breaker that if I said it, well my nose or jaw or something like that might get broken. He would walk into an office full of women and when one asked if they could help him, he would say, "Does everyone have to be ugly to work here?"

If you are kidding or want to be able to say you are kidding, then you have to say it like you are kidding, or be instantly ready with that 'just teasing' look. But, for that matter, you might just get yourself into the role and play it at least half-way serious. I've seen some do this, the girl is in rough jeans, baggy shirt and kicked around work-style boots. Then she says, "Going over to [whereever] to [whatever], want to go?" Smile, wink, and add, "How about a date, hon?" You'll get company for your trip and sometime during, she will clue you in as to whether she wants that approach used again, or whether she feels you out to see if you might be serious. Good luck--either way.

My straight friends wouldn't find that strange all, but they are all very accustomed to being around gay people and talking about it and stuff... I don't know what your friends are like so it is hard to tell for sure what their reaction was.

Everyone ( at sometime in there life ) has joked about being gay or somebody they know are gay ... I'm sure they just took it as a joke ... I wouldn't even think twice about it ... until they mention it tomorrow ... lol ... I would just explain to them how you look up to her so much ... they should understand ... !

It's normal for a girl to compliment other girls, so I don't think your friends would have a weird reaction. If it were a boy saying it about a boy, then yes, they would immediately think he's gay.

That's just OK... I mean, Ive heard comments like that in "straight" environments. Now, if you really don't want to get caught, don't repeat them so often.
Good luck with that girl ;)

Yeah, I would take it as a joke, but how did your friends answer? Did they say anything at all?

Why in the world would you ask a question for straight people in the LGBT category?!?
