I am considering going back to school for my masters in education, I know why I want to do it but sometimes the grass isn't always greener.....if you catch my drift.

Paperwork, parents that you will think God himself could not please, and the occasional unrealistic requests or requirements from school administration. BUT, the good totally outweighs any negative! Good luck!

I'm neither an American nor an expert in the field, but I'd say it depends on many factors. And are you asking, elementary school teacher as opposed to being a high school teacher? Well, I'd say that the students are way too young to know the consequences of their actions; they're a lot more childish. It's a nerve-racking experience. If you're going to be a public school teacher, it could be worse. The second drawback is the superficial nature of the curriculum, which prevents you from going into depth in any subject, preventing you from exposing your students to the true allure of these subjects. I think I'd rather be a high school teacher. I could at least have stimulating conversations with my students and befriend them after graduation.

Worst thing right now----teaching a curriculum I am mandated to teach by the govt. that I know doesn't work for most of my kids yet I do not have the liberty to do what I know works--what I was trained to do to help all my students succeed. That is my greatest frustration. Thank you No Child Left Behind!!

I'm with mommy. She pretty much summed up the major types of annoying parents. On the other hand, you also get to know some really great families with amazing parents. I've had that very pleasure this year and feel blessed to now know these people. But yeah, the parents. :)

Kids in elementary school are constantly tattling and whinning over evey little thing.ANd parents are often very hard to deal with. They often get mad at the teacher for the silliest stuff.

Having to clean up. Having to do the bl*sted paperwork for the bureaucrats in office.

Nicest thing: to watch kids learn to read and tell stories of their lives.

Hmmm, most elementary students can wipe their own nose. Though that was a pain when I taught two year olds.

Tattle tails.

Paperwork, outside expectations, parents who think their child can do no wrong, parents in denial about their child's medical condition, parents who are over-involved to the point of interfering.......

So the biggest worst...is obnoxious parents! ;o)
