VIENNA (AFP) - UN nuclear chief Mohamed ElBaradei said Monday that the "brewing confrontation" with Iran over its atomic ambitions "must be defused," as Tehran failed to provide sensitive information it had promised.

A meeting Monday between ElBaradei and a senior Iranian negotiator was cancelled since "the Iranians didn't want to talk substance at this point" on questions about possible weapons work, in an over four-year-old investigation by the watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency, a diplomat said.
ElBaradei meanwhile told an IAEA meeting: "I am increasingly disturbed by the current stalemate and the brewing confrontation -- a stalemate that urgently needs to be broken, and a confrontation that must be defused."
The IAEA's 35-nation board of governors began Monday in Vienna a week-long meeting that could bring Tehran one step closer to a third round of UN sanctions against its nuclear programme.

Iran is a problem
What to do though ?
An invasion or an attack could be World war 3
Russia has a big pipeline from Iran to Russia - they will not take American interference well - fearing that the vital resource will go missing
The Arab world will likely not unite to any significant degree - but attacks will increase world wide -
Nuclear powers will trade with Iran and terror knows no borders the urgency to sneak in bombs etc will sky rocket
So to attack or not to attack ?
If so who should do it - The Americans acting again will likely unite the world against America - even though there will be a sympathy for the motive this time unlike the Iraq debacle

Iran does not want the world arrayed against it - so the world should array against it and apply a regime of diplomatic and selective economic pressures. The people of Iran are very pro-Western; it's the government that's the problem. Unfortunately the government is an autocracy, even with democracy. Those mullahs've got the system sussed!
Rattle rattle bang bang is an option but, good lord, not now and not yet.

The Iranian govt. is totally dishonest with its people. I wish they would rise up and overthrow the Ayatolla.
However, when you hear **** Cheney hiding public energy task force data and telling the Secret Service to destroy public records of whom has visited the White House and Naval Observatory (VP residence), then it makes our govt. look dishonest as well.
If the US wants to be on the moral high ground, then there can be no secrets by publically elected officials.

Iran and the fuc#ed up leadership will cause WW III in about 12 months if they continue to develop nuclear technology. The Israeli's are Practicing their tactics for an Ariel attack like the Iraq one, with one exception they plan on possibly using Large Conventional Explosives (like our MOAB) or
LOW YIELD NUKES. Either way they are going in and going in hard and fast.

How transparent is the U.S. from a foreign standpoint, I wonder?
And, no, Iran is not a country full of "religious zealot freaks" or whatever. Believe it or not, they have a very educated, modern populace.
Opinionated ignorance is crappy. =(

Funny, that's exactly what the most secretive administration in our history says about the patriot act, if you have nothing to hide you don't have to worry. Why did V.P. Cheney hold secret energy meetings, has he something to hide?

And, a transparent nation is a conquered nation (since it's enemies will know it's secrets).
So, there are no honest nations. Iran, of course, included.
