Aren't men now being sold the same b.s. about how they're supposed to look that has been sold to women for so many years? Shouldn't we men be proud of our hairyness? It's part of what makes us men, no?

What we look for in the opposite sex has, in the past few decades anyway, always been dictated by whatever the mainstream powers-that-be (internet and magazine columns, movies, etc) deem fashionable. And when they start screaming at girls, "Bodily hair! Hairy backs! Ewwwww!", they listen and start becoming repulsed by hairy backs. And the list goes on. And that's just the short answer.

But none of that means anything when compared to the individual woman's tastes and turn-ons. Some women like a hairy man. Some like a clean-shaven man. Others like a blond-haired man, others black-haired, others with a tanned complexion, others muscly, others stout, etc. Of course some of these characteristics are more popular than others, but to each his or her own. I know of women who were attracted to me when I hadn't shaved in a while, not because I'm particularly good-looking, but just because of the unshaven look which appealed to them generally.

So is body hair a bad thing? Maybe to some female fashion and society writers, but not necessarily to everyone.

Asalaamualaikum. MashAllah... It always brings a tear to my eye when i hear of another emracing Islam. I am 27 & Alhamdullilah i emraced Islam 3years ago. You have to understand that people generally dont like CHANGE and if they dont unerstand something then they can find it scary & intimidating... this is probably why they tease you. Alhamdullilah you have been blessed and should try not to let others drag you down. Slapping him was indeed a reaction but not a very good one. Not only did it get you into trouble but its not good dawah. I'm not saying you should take his abuse but try to resolve it properly as violence only ever makes things worse. Becoming muslim is a big commitment and we are always going to be tested. I see these tests as hurdles but i know when i've cleared one another is coming. If i can ever do anything to help you on your journey in Islam, feel free to contact me. I

It's a personal preference really; to each his/her own. It's more common today for women (men too, I suppose) to wax or shave any unwanted body hair. Personally, I am grossed out by body hair in general. I get rid of all of the "overgrowth" on my body. I do get rid of the hair under my arms, on my legs, and in my inguinal (groin) area. I even hate the sight of any hair above my lip, no matter how light or unnoticeable. Also, nothing against you, but I find hairy men (men in general, really) unattractive. I'm reminded of a big grizzly bear when I see a man with tufts of hair sticking out of his shirt collar. And I nearly toss my cookies when a guy takes off his shirt and he has on a sweater vest of hair. I just think of neanderthals or someone who is unkempt. I suppose that's why I like women and not men; women don't grow an abundance of hair all over their body. *sigh*

A lot of women these days prefer boys and (figuratively)emasculated men, because they are easy to bend and pose and get to put make-up on. Also, men in the traditional sense are very intimidating to the type of little girl mentality that is purvasive these days in so many women. Its a maturity thing and as humankind "progresses" it has become devolved and more childlike.

I like a man to look like a man, and hair is very much a part of that.
If you feel like trimming the private area fine, but it's not necessary.
I absolutely love masculine men....please don't let society take away your manliness!
Hair belongs on men ;)
Edit: however as a feminine female, I wax or shave everything
I like a nice silky smooth body to slide up against a manly man.

A lot of people are very immature and superficial. They get their ideas of how to look from watching porn, and porn is very easy for the immature to find these days. Neither I nor my spouse would ever think of shaving our private hair!

Guys who shave all over make me think of Ken dolls. Ick.

i don't think it's becoming a bad thing..

i agree it's part of being men..

but when did women having body hair become a bad thing? (well, a long time ago.) but i mean its natural for everyone to have body hair. i don't think its fair how women have to shave or else people will think it's gross.

i love hairy guys...as long as they arent so hairy they look gorilla-ish..being able to run my hands through a mans chest hair is somehow actually relaxing at times and a turn on as well.
