If it only costs 2 points to ask a question, where do the other 8 come from that go to the Best Answer?

OK, folks, here's the breakdown:
Initially, it takes 5 points to ask a question. You get 3 back when you select a Best Answer, ergo it costs 2 points to ask a question, savvy?

You only get the 3 points back if you pick the best answer. If it goes to a vote, I believe you get 2 back unless the vote is for "no best answer". If there is no best answer, you get all 5 points back.

Anyway, points on Answers are like the U.S. Mint. When America needs more money, it just prints it up...Yahoo does the same thing with points.

You get 2 points for answering a question. Then, an ADDITIONAL 10 points for "Best Answer." (It says so at the bottom of the page.)
