We rule ice hockey a US team Anaheim won the Stanley cup. USA team won the world cup of basketball, baseball and ice hockey. I believe. USA beat Italy in basketball to win the world championship. USA won the WBC. Ice hockey we won both the internation cup and the Stanley cup. UFC we Americans rule the fighting world. All the bad fighters come from other countries such as Canada, Brazil and the UK. Chuck Liddell is the best fighter in the world. We rule like every sport that is popular here. In last Olympics USA basket team finished #3, after Argentina and Italy.
The best Tennis player is Swiss, the second Spanish.
The most played sport in the world is volley, where currently Brazil leads for both men and women, with Cuba, the Netherlands and Italy as runner-up.
American drivers are great, but they run on domestic races only; the few ones who tried out of America had little success, while Europeans in USA had great success (Mansell, Zanardi).
Anyway, why do you bother, since soccer isn't a popular sport in the US, as rugby, cricket and golf...?
It's very sad when people try to relate sport to any kind of politic, let alone military.

No, even if we do win the World Cup (in the far far future) It won't make soccer popular over night. It takes a while. Ever since we hosted 1994 World Cup, soccer has become a bit more popular in the US, of course Baseball and Basketball and Football exceed it by a lot more. So it would probably take a decades for soccer to win the same popularity as it does in Europe, because theres all the other sports inbetween, and we're not as good as the Europeans, who have been playing ever since they were younger. The reason why i think it's so popular in Europe is because all these countries are right next to each other, so they play with each other, they have that influence on each other. But us, we have Canada and Mexico and the Caribbean around us. Beside Mexico... Canada is into hockey, and the Caribbeans are into baseball. We don't have that soccer influence on us.

Take your head out of your behind for a while. Of course you will win the Stanley cup...it it only north american countries that have teams in it!!! Baseball you are scared to play it nationally because the likes of Cuba will kick you @ss. Tennis??? roddick hasn't won a major since I can't remember and you certainly don't hold the Davis Cup at the moment. You only brag about sports that only you yanks play...get a life! No wonder the USA is the most hated country in the world if you are an example of the type of people it creates!!! A final point is that you are having to import an Englishman and pay him mega bucks to even get your silly little football league noticed. You will never dominate global football just like you will never dominate a real sport like Rugby where you don't wear pads and helmets!!!

Besides the pride that I feel when the United States does well in any sporting event, I would derive perverse joy at seeing those whom put us down eat crow. I bet some would even jump into the river if we won a few World Cups.

you should start thinking and then ask real questions. you have been champions in many sports but not rule, you dont have the best tennis player, you dont have the best car drivers (face it: nascar drivers cant be compared to f1 drivers), you dont have the best basketball team (only the dream team in barcelona), you dont have the best baseball team, and certainly you arent close of ruling in soccer
last but not least: sports should not be connected with politics and even less when you dont even know about politics as we can see in your nick

Nope. It's the one sport they can't and won't take. Because it's the one sport that takes real skill that can't be taught.

Btw Roddick is not the best in the world, are you forgetting Nadal?
