Bit of a personal question this, but been using tampax this year, but seem to get infection after infection just after I finish. Any one else had similar problems? Used pads all my life with no problems. I take it that this is the cause.

Just been reading an article about how tampax can cause thrush infections through the fibres that come off the tampon. This seems right, as I have been having thrush, never had it in my life until now. Could be an allergic reaction too. Been using the new scented ones

I've never managed to get one in, but I've heard that people can have problems with them. I read an article once where someone forgot about it and left it in for two weeks and she got some kind of infection.
Just imagine -- all that waste is meant to drain out and by using a tampon you're temporarily blocking it all in. I know pads are messy but I would rather stick with them. I've tried to put tampons in loads of times so I can go swimming, but never succeeded.

if u are using scented tampons this can be why or if u are using supper and u flow is not heavy. i recommend the next time u use them use a non scented regular or light tampons and make sure u are changing it every 4 to 7 hr depending on ur flow but and if u still get the infection go back to pads

The tricky thing about tampons is that bacteria build up can happen much easier than with pads, so you need to change them regularly, even if you don't think you need to. You may have toxic shock syndrome, which is caused by bacterial build up from the over use of tampons. Go to a doctor and get it checked out X

tampons can sometimes lead to toxic shock syndrome which is very serious
I would try pads for a couple months and see what happens. I have also heard of the "diva cup" but haven't tried it yet. Its basically a cup you insert but you must pull it out and pour out the blood, rinse and re-insert. sounds pretty yucky but I have been having problems with pads and tampons, so you might want to look into it if you have the same problem with pads

Dont use the scented ones - you are obviously experiencing a reaction to the "scent". Try taking the Canesten duo treatment to clear it up - one oral tablet and some cream. Tampons shouldn't cause you any problem really, but its the added scent things thats the problem - you are sensitive to it.

It is because you are blocking moisture in and bacteria can grow more rapidly. You probably need to change a tampon more often. However you could try a mooncup. Go to www.mooncup.co.uk- enviromentally friendly, hygienic, saves loads on tampons and pads and safe and easy to use. Recommended for women who are prone to infections.

I have had this problem with Tampax and is infcat Thursh. I decied to change back to Press On Towels whihc seem to be working fine with me but the only time I start to have any problem with the Towels and thats whne its nice warm weather, the towels start to irritate me towards the back passeage that side, it makes it red looking, like its caused to the rubbing and with being hot due to weather.
