The images should show up in the DCIM folder. If they don't, then it is likely the card is freshly formatted by a camera but doesn't have any images stored on it.

Normally the files are in your DCIM folder. If they show up on the camera and not your computer it could be a couple things.
1. Do you maybe have them on your camera's personal memory? Check and see if the pics are there while the card is out. 2. Do the pics show up on the camera with the card in, but not on the computer? Then it is either the the file types turned off, click on tools, folder options, pick the view tab and check to see if "see hidden file types" is on or it could be the driver for your card reader

On ours, we were able to double-click the DCIM folder and dig in and find the .jpg images and either move or copy (your preference) them to a folder on the computer... (We were able too, though, to look at them directly on the card...)
Nonetheless, maybe even go to cmd.exe and try dir on the dcim folder, and then see if there are subfolders (I don't know your camera...) and dir against those too? And then move the photos to a folder on your computer?

When you put your sd card into the camera, does it show the pictures? If so, there may be a problem with the software that your computer uses.. Also, there may be the problem that you don't have the correct option selected when you go to do an Open, such as, jpgs, etc, in the bottom block..

Click on My Computer, then select the device "Removable Disk ____ (could be L, D, R, etc....)". Click on the Drive, then open a folder and view the pictures.

you can get an sd card reader at walmart or target for a few bucks, or some newer computers have little slots for cards.
