i was just wondering if you think teddy roosevelt's foreign policies and intervening in foreign affairs helped those involved? or do you think it just harmed them? especially in asia and latin america

Wow! I feel like I'm back in college. You know, I've read a really good bio of TR and have a generally high interest in him because he was such a dynamic president, but I really have no idea how to answer this question other than to say he did help negotiate an end to a war, and won the Nobel peace price in 1906. Certainly stopping war is a good thing, right?

TR said, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." I don't think that is the kind of politics one wants to be practicing in the 21st century. Perhaps, TR did a lot to expand American imperialism, like Bush has done for us in the past six years.
