Chi Guy, you and I have never seen eye to eye in the past. So I ask you now, is this just another high school type popularity contest where you look for rediculous affirmation? Or, would you like to know the truth?
The last time I saw any amount of intel on Iran was back in January. Here's what I know:
Iran sits atop the world's 3d largest oil deposit. The gas companies of Iran are all state run. As of December 2006, Iranians were paying on average 38 cents a gallon at the pumps. The government has not returned any of the "profits" for research and developement. Iran's gas profits have instead gone to fund various social programs. Their oil wells are now all over 50 years old and in a rate of decline in production of approx. 13% per year. The government has standing policies making it almost impossible for foreign oil companies to come in and drill. Currently, the Italians are the only ones willing to meet their demands. Having said all of that, the Iranians were unable to export a single gallon of oil in 2006. Do you suppose there is motivation to create a nuclear power program there? Unfortunately, the Iranians have also been exporting terrorism and with those nuclear reactors, comes the waste of weapons grade uranium and/or plutonium. Would you like to just sit back and watch, wait and see what their true intentions are?
The Iranian people have had good cause to hate us, dating back to the Eisenhower administration when our CIA overthrew their elected government and installed the Shaw upon the Peacock Throan. We were looking for a "yes" man and instead, got a ruthless dictator. Still we supported him for several decades until his overthrow. Even then, Carter invited him to the U.S.. Carter was also responsible for gutting the CIA, leaving this country blind and dependent upon the good graces of foreign intel services.
The answer to your question then is, you can hate Bush (and me for that matter, I'm a dirty rotten, stinking con) all you like. The Iranians are looking to destabilize Iraq and get the oil. They would be in persuit of a nuclear program with or without your dreaded Mr. Bush.

Did you know Iran and Iraq engaged in a war for eight years in the 1980s?
As for the nukes, I think Iran will always be inching toward something that upsets the majority of the world.

Iran is like the other countries in the area and wants to be a power player like India, China and Pakistan. Trying to put the blame on Bush is inappropriate. The program was started before Bush took office and despite the Media's attempt to blame Bush for everything I hope people are smart enough to understand the real motivation for the program.

There should be no conditions. No nukes for Iran. Period. If you do not get rid of the program, we will take it from you and overthrow your regime. And yes they would be inching toward nukes. They are a part of the axis of evil and supporters of terrorism. Bush invading Iraq did not change anything.

saddam got hit by an iranian train when he fought iran they could have easily killed iraq if it had not been for america who supplied saddam with satellite imagery and chemical weapons and thats when irans victory spiralled down and it ended in a peace treaty where no one won
iraq wouldnt have the resourses to attack iran as israel obliterated iraqi nuke plants

The American media and much of its consituents, including the general public is badly informed of Iran.
If anything is supposed to work out, the US should have a dramatic reversal in foreign policy by trying to reduce Iran's fears with a credible, contingent security guarantee and a drop on its preconditions.

Hey Chi Guy~
I know that if I were the leader of a country that the U.S. has designs of invading or declaring war against......I'd want to level the playing field!
